The eerie solitude, combined with the outstanding beauty of this Dartmoor rock might have been the perfect habitat for the golden eagle in another lifetime.
Called Lucky Tor on the map, the rock stands back from the waters of the rumbling river Dart on a glade which receives only the faintest sunlight due to the tall, deciduous trees that surround it. Unexpected and spectacular, this spot has a lost, aching familiarity.
